This kit supplements National Grid’s annual pipeline public awareness program (PPAP) Public Officials Baseline mailing with messages that address knowledge gaps identified through research with this audience. Kit includes a letter to public officials asking them to spread the word about 811, learn the location of high-pressure pipelines in their community, review their local emergency operations plan (EOP) and promote required training for the excavators they hire. Kit also includes a comprehensive booklet with tips for digging safely to prevent damage to natural gas lines, a gas safety visor card for convenient onsite reference and a state-specific Safe Excavation Checklist. Mailing encourages public officials to request additional booklets, visor cards and checklists, free of charge, for distribution to their employees and excavation contractors.
